I went to the mental health festival because my whole class was going. I did not expect to say anything. For months I had been waking up tired, crying in the bathroom at break time, and telling everyone I was fine.

During one of the small group sessions, a facilitator asked us to finish the sentence "Lately I have been feeling..." When it came to me, I said "heavy". Nobody laughed. The girl next to me said she felt the same.

I had spent so long thinking something was wrong with me. Hearing other people say the same words made me feel normal for the first time in a long time.

After the session I spoke to one of the SIU team privately. She helped me think about who at school I could talk to, and she checked on me again the next week. I still have hard days, but now I have people I can tell.
